moving!

January 10th, 2008 (11:48 am)

 Hey, LJ readers!

Since I still have a learning curve with LJ's interface and don't like the limitations with the free journal, I'm moving my Beauty Blog to my own website!

Visit http://beautyblog.kyredhead.com for all the latest beauty news and reviews!   Remember — there's no WWW in that address!

You can also type in http://kyredheadbeauty.blogspot.com if you'd rather (it reroutes to the above address).

Can't wait to read your questions and comments in the future!

my disclaimer, liquid eyeliner, and a new Look

December 2nd, 2007 (11:30 pm)

MY DISCLAIMER

Okay, let me tell you up front: I am a Mary Kay consultant, so it is inevitable that I will be referencing and promoting Mary Kay products through this blog.  HOWEVER, I am also honest and a skeptic and will not ever promote a product simply for the sake of promoting it.  The results and recommendations posted here are based on my experiences or those of my customers and have not been exaggerated.

You are welcome to purchase anything from me through my secure Mary Kay website — I would love to serve as your personal consultant!  I keep a full inventory in stock, and both shipping and giftwrapping are free.  IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A MARY KAY CONSULTANT who gives you personal service, please make your purchases from her instead!  Since Mary Kay is all about personalized service, we prefer that each customer only does business with one consultant who can then get to know that individual well enough to best serve his or her needs.

LIQUID EYELINER

I learned a new trick last week watching What Not to Wear that will make putting on liquid eyeliner a lot less scary!  Instead of trying to keep a steady hand all the way across your eye using that in-cap applicator, put a gobby smear of liquid eyeliner on the back of your non-dominant hand.  Using a good eyeliner brush, pick up a thin coat of the liquid eyeliner and apply it in short strokes across your eyelid, staying as close as possible to your upper lash line.  If desired, wing the line up just past the end of your eye (continue the curve of your lid).

I haven't tried this yet, so if you have liquid eyeliner and a good eyeliner brush, try it and Comment to let me know how it works!

A NEW LOOK

Today, I decided to branch out and try a new eye look.  I initially created it for a green-eyed customer but thought it might be a good idea if I tried it on myself, too.  I used the standard eye application found on my Mary Kay website (click here to see step-by-step instructions), plus I added a little highlighter at the inner corner of my eye.  As always, I used black brown Ultimate Mascara and Classic Blonde Brow Definer.

Highlighter: Crystalline
Midtone: Sugarplum
Accent: Onyx (dark)
Eyeliner: Steely

Cheek: Island Spice (blended)
Lip Liner: Dusty Pink (line and fill lightly)
Gloss: Coral Rose

For an even softer look, you could use the light half of Onyx as your midtone and the Sugarplum as your accent.  Two looks in one!

Welcome to LJ, self!

November 27th, 2007 (03:41 pm)

Wow, like I really need to join another online community...MySpace, Facebook, TCOYF, Multiply, Redhedd.com, Blogger, LJ...

I needed a dedicated "beauty blog" to share all my Mary Kay ramblings anyway, so when

[info]roina_arwensuggested I join, I figured, "Why not?"  I meant to vote for her LJ Idol entry, too, but it's already after 1pm.  Hers was great, though, so go vote for her next week!

For the record, "Graefen" is my husband (or "DH" for "dear husband") and "The Prince" is our son (or "DS" for "dear son").

I already feel guilty about wasting The Prince's naptime for this kind of online stuff instead of "working," so my profile bio is kind of sparse.  If you have any questions, feel free just to ask!
